OPEN CALL FOR LEBANESE FILM STUDENTS
Fondation Liban Cinema invites Lebanese film students to participate in an anthology film project that seeks to explore and document life during these challenging and uncertain times. We aim to capture the feelings, impressions, struggles, and humanity of individuals living in the current context through the lens of emerging filmmakers.
This project will be a platform for your voice and perspective to an important artistic endeavor that reflects the complexities of life in Lebanon today. If you’re a film student that wants to be part of a meaningful project, we want to hear from you.
Submission Guidelines:
Please submit a short film (3-4 minutes in length) in which you narrate and visually express whatever you would like to express. You can use the following questions to help guide your personal response (optional):
1. What would be the theme of the film you would write today?
– Consider what stories matter most in this moment. What subjects would you address in a film that encapsulates today’s reality?
2. What do you think cameras need to capture in today’s war?
– Reflect on what you feel the world needs to see. What is happening now that should be documented or revealed through the film?
3. Who are you in time of war?
– Share your personal identity and your role during these trying times. How have the events of today shaped who you are, and what is your relationship with the ongoing situation?
Submission Requirements:
– The film must be between 3 and 4 minutes in duration.
– The film needs to be shot in horizontal format.
– Please ensure your film includes narration, whether in the form of a voice-over or on-screen text. (Answering the three questions is not a must)
– You are encouraged to be as creative as possible, using any style or medium that best represents your vision (documentary, experimental, fiction, etc.).
NB: Please show caution when filming in public spaces, and always get the consent of all persons appearing in your film.
Deadline:
All films must be submitted by December 15th.
This call is not just about making a film, but about expressing your truth, your story, and your unique perspective on Lebanon’s current challenges. Your voice matters, and we want to see it through your lens.
