Fiction Feature Films Script Rewriting Workshop
Fondation Liban Cinema-FLC, in collaboration with the French Institute in Lebanon, organizes every year since 2008 it’s renowned and free Fiction Feature Films Script Rewriting Workshop in 2 sessions.
The fiction feature film projects submitted must be original works of fiction for cinema and the application must include the following:
• Synopsis (10 lines)
• 2. Treatment of 10 pages (story developed from beginning to end)
• 3. Script
• Director’s statement
• Curriculum vitae (including contact details)
• DVD or online link of previous films (if the applicant has already directed films).
A selection committee made of professionals selects five projects that take part of the workshop.
Our experts are dedicated throughout the whole week to offering advice and guidance regarding the process of script writing and helping the participants turning their scripts into more appealing projects to international producers.
Among the experts invited throughout these 7 years are Jacques Akchoti, Ghassan Salhab, Mohamad Soueid, James Albi, Richard Sidi, Keith Cunningham, Georges Hachem, Olivier Gorce, Olivier Lorelle…
And because the workshop is tailored in a way for the participants to get the best experience possible, a follow-up session was scheduled five months later.
In 2014, the workshop was held in Beirut. It was a week of intense inspiration, creativity, networking and fun!
During the workshop, 4 selected Lebanese participants (directors and/or scriptwriters) were given the unique chance to have one on one meetings with the professional script experts: Laure Desmazieres, and Michel Kammoun as well as group sessions.
The 4 participants of this 5th Edition are:
-Liana Kassir and Renaud Pachot: La mer et ses Vagues
-Julien Kobersy: Lattouf
-Wafa’ Celine Halawi: Cello
-Farah Chaya: Les Mendiants du Paradis
Conclusion:
According to Kammoun and Desmazieres, this workshop is a dream for every filmmaker since it is intense and it gathers candidates with different potential and different backgrounds.
See you next year with more stories to tell !
