AFIC – Arab Film Institutes Commission
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the creation of an Arab Film Institutes Commission (AFIC) was signed In the framework of the Manarat Festival that took place in Tunisia (July 9 – 15) between Algeria (Algerian Center for Cinema) , Egypt, Jordan (Jordanian Royal Film Commission,) Lebanon (Fondation Liban Cinema) , Morocco (Moroccan Cinema Center – CCM), Palestine (Palestinian Ministry of Culture) and Tunisia (Tunisian National Center for Cinema and Image – CNCI) for the creation of an Arab Film Institutes Commission (AFIC).
The main objective is to develop reflection and prospection plans on the film sector in the partner countries. This new structure will allow publishing recommendations, project proposals and joint ventures between the cinema professionals as well as the possibility of a fruitful cooperation in the public and private sector of the partner countries.
The role of the Arab Film Institutes Commission is also to support the exchange of experience and expertise in the training field in the film sector, preserving the heritage of the films; fighting piracy, and protecting the intellectual properties.
This new project aims to strengthen the presence of the partner’s countries’ films in festivals and cultural events.
