In a context of unprecedented multi-dimensional crisis, chronic lack of support and public policies, significant decline in film production, a pillar of the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) in Lebanon, massive talent exodus in search of work opportunities with no short or medium-term solutions in sight, financing a film remains the major problem for Lebanese filmmakers, which is growing in a globalized world in crisis. The creation of a fund to support the sector remains the primary objective of Fondation Liban Cinema.

In 2022, Fondation Liban Cinema launched, with the financial support of the European Union, the first Lebanese Film Fund to support feature film projects. Following a rigorous evaluation process by an independent selection committee, 9 film projects out of 28 submissions were selected for funding. The grants, were awarded to a diverse group of filmmakers, including established and first-time filmmakers, documentary and fiction filmmakers, and projects in various stages of production or post-production.

Today, FLC is putting all its efforts to mobilize donors and international partners to renew this initiative and make this financial mechanism sustainable.
