The Groupe Ouest award
Groupe Ouest: Fondation Liban Cinema- FLC is pleased to announce a new partnership with Centre national du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée- France. This partnership rewards one project who had previously taken part in the FLC annual Script-Writing Workshop, and who is still in need of development and consultancy.
Through 2 sessions, the Groupe Ouest workshop will help the author to deepen and strengthen their scripts.
The winner of this Groupe Ouest Residency is CYNTHIA SAWMA with her first feature film project A taste of Paradise.

Biography Cynthia Sawma:
Cynthia Sawma is a Lebanese film director and writer, born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1991. She graduated from ALBA in 2015 with a distinguished master’s degree in Film Directing. Her approach to filmmaking is noticed by her strong and spicy sarcasm, always wandering between reality and fiction.
Cynthia started young her career as an actress. In 2015 she wrote and directed her award winner short film “MABROUK” and then, from 2015 to 2018 she worked in the casting department on some of the biggest productions coming out of Lebanon, the most famous ones where her collaboration with Lebanese Directors Ziad Doueiri and Nadine Labaki on the casting of their Academy Award Nominated Films “The Insult” (2017) and “Capernaum”(2019).
Today Cynthia is developing her first feature film “A Taste of Paradise” which also participated in the Script writing workshop with Fondation Liban Cinema back in 2018.
