In the frame of the Bilateral Forum that was organized and in which FLC participated, experiences, ideas, challenges and prospects with countries were exchanged.
Having the privilege of welcoming Lebanon for this edition, the Forum focused on issues that particularly affect both industries and was divided into three sessions: the education and professionalization of the filmmakers; the experiences with co-productions; and the distribution of Lebanon and Mexican films within these regions.
The panel hosted representatives from public institutions as well as film producers, directors and distributors who, given their experience, were able to offer a broad and critical overview of what can be done in the future. The main goal is to offer a platform for dialogue that will lead to concrete projects in the short and medium term, and to develop stronger relations between both countries
An international tribute was also paid to Lebanese filmmaker Ghassan Salhab during the Guanajuato International Film Festival rewarding him with the Silver Cross for his long career, achievements and what he did for the Lebanese cinema
Besides its local filmography, and in partnership with Fondation Liban Cinema, GIFF celebrated the Lebanese influence in the development of the Mexican cinema with the release of the book Lebanese in Mexican Cinema, by writer and scholar Carlos Martínez Assad, celebrating the links that unite both countries and the similarities between both cinemas.
